On Friday night State Troopers assigned to the Troop C Community Action Team were on patrol in the area of Columbus Street when they observed a vehicle pass them with dark front windows.

After the vehicle turned into the Cumberland Farms Gas Station on Daniels Street, the Troopers made a vehicle stop and the driver was issued a citation for illegally tinted windows.

The passenger who was identified as Jennifer Cruz, 27, of Fitchburg was not wearing a seatbelt. During a search of Cruz, Troopers recovered two bags of cocaine each weighing 25 grams and two broken cell phones.

Cruz was arrested and charged with trafficking class B substance, tampering or destruction of evidence and fail to wear safety belt.

Cruz is in custody at the Leominster Barracks until her arraignment Monday in Fitchburg District Court.
